The tranny on my dually has a funny, quirk, i guess you could say, its not really a problem, i just wanna know if its something that could become a problem.

Sometimes, when you go to put it in reverse you have to double clutch (which is normal), but, it grinds and then starts making a really bizarre noise, but it stops as soon as you mash the clutch in and relese it. It only does it once in a while.

Any ideas?

Sounds like a moving shaft. Not good. It MAY be the reverse idler shaft. This occurs when clearances get too big.

Faults such as these can make the transmission poop itself with no additional warning. Ingesting a hardened chip into rotating gears is not good.

This thing is a toploader, right? Drain it, remove the top cover, and get a GOOD look at all three reverse gears. Pitting, chipping, or excessive motion is bad.

Depending on your truck, you may be able to remove the cover with the transmission installed. Especially if there is a removable access cover in the floor.
