Transmission
Manual
I have started on my rebuild project of my 84 Ranger again. I have a 88 BII, 2wd, w/auto trans. On the door post it says its a "T" transmission. The origional owner said that the trans has been rebuilt and runs good. Can't say for sure if this is the origional trans or not. This trans has a hump in the oil pan.

What will it take for me to install this trans into my 84 Ranger, 2wd, that is currently a 5 sp manual? It seem to me that after I take the dummy tranfer case off I will need a different tail. Please help Also I plan to use the motor from the BII.

Not only will you need a different tail-housing, you also need a different output shaft, which requires completely disassembling the trans and basically rebuilding it all over again. See if you can leave the dummy t-case on it.

Ok perhaps I have made the wrong move. I don;t want the dummy transfer case installed, I don't want to disassemble the transmission and I don't really want to buy another one. If I just use the 5 sp manual that's in the ranger will I have to change the computer that came with the BII? It was my plan to use motor, Trans, wiring, and computer from the BII.
