what kind of transmission and transfercase fluid do i use in a 86 ranger 4wd trans ??

Mercon ATF in the Tcase. Auto or manual tranny? If its a manual transmission with an removeable pan on the bottom (which it should be if its the origional tranny), You should use Gear oil.

If its an auto tranny, I forget which specific type of ATF is supposed to be used.
