So after having hydrolocked my truck, rebuilding the top end and changing all the fluids now my tranny seems to be having some problems. I drove it about 200 miles or so before changing the tranny or transfer case fluid. Both had a quart of water in them or more but there was hardly any metal filings on the drain of fill plug and no chunks. I figured the water in the tranny was why shifting was so sticky but it's getting worse now, to the point it won't go in gear some times without putting it into reverse or 5th then into first. There is no grinding and I know it isn't my clutch. I'm guessing it's my syncros.

My question is, if I keep running it like this, will I do more damage than just to the syncros? I don't have the time to do a tranny rebuild right now but am planning on it eventually...

I put water in my tranny and it runs tip top!

Just because it isn't grinding doesn't mean it isn't a release issue.

It is probably worn synchros, but try flushing out the clutch system first. Clutch fluid is brake fluid. Brake fluid is hydrophalic, which means water gives it a hardon, and we all know what that means.

I'll have to flush it, I suppose it could be water in my clutch fluid... Just the last couple days it's been getting hard getting it out of gear too... especially 5th. I crawled under the truck and looked through the hole when I had someone step on the clutch, it seemed to be working ok but I've also noticed more freeplay in my clutch as well
