tranny swap

its been a while...lol...
anywho, here is my dilema..
found a nice 97 four banger, with a broken auto tranny. guy wants $500 for it. Is it worth buying the truck and swapping in a manual tranny? and how hard is it to do such a thing? thanks for the help.

you pretty much need a whole donor vehicle for all the extra parts. OR many trips to the wrecker place.

other than that, just a weekend for swapping parts.

I think by the time you get new clutch and clutch hydraulic parts, a flywheel, a used transmission, a clutch line, clutch and brake pedal assembly, a computer, a drive shaft(if 2wd) you will probably have enough money in it that you could just buy a truck that works.
It would have to be a really nice truck for me to want to do all that work on a truck I didn't already own.

thanks for the opinions..its true, i'd have to find a home for the ranger and the donor one, find the time to swap em out, and such..
found a nice 1994 here in london that i have my eyes set on. waiting for the dude to get back to me so i can go look at it.
