Tranny Swap?

This may have been answered, but I couldn't find the answer.. and I sware I searched! But the tranny in my Ranger went and I need a new tranny.. I was wondering if a tranny of any other motor other than the 3.0 would work. If this pisses too many people off, I'll delete it as soon as I get an answer.

You'll have to go with the original 3.0L transmission.

What year and model do you have?

I have a 93 5spd. It sucks because I can't find one anywhere.. but there are a million for the 2.3 and the 4.0

I have a 93 3.0, if there's a million 4.0s you should see if you can get a 4.0 and tranny combo. Our 3.0s are el terrible.

I really don't feel like swaping out the ECM and the wiring harness though...

Find another manual transmission that is NOT the 4.0L (the 4.0L gearing is different and not optimal for your motor).

It's the Mazda M5ODR-1 transmission. These are pretty popular and can be found anywhere.

Does the transfer case matter weither if it off a 5spd or an auto? Also has the rangers ever been offered with manual 4wd? Because that's what I reallly want.
