yea its only gunna cost me $200.. i have had so much transmission issues with this this this will make the 4th trans since i got it bout 5 years ago. i also considered rebuilding my current A4ld any opinions? i am mechanical inclined and have installed many transmissions but i have never been inside of 1..
Actually, I believe the casing is different too, but don't let that throw u. The one I pulled out of my 88 partd truck looked diff, but had the same plugins. the problem u will have is the shifter and kickdown linkage is different. No worries though.
The important question is "What engine is in each vehicle"
If they both have V6's the bellhousing bolt pattern will be the same.
I *think* the same is true of the 4 cylinder engines (common bolt pattern) but I don't know that for sure.
The newer A4LD will be at least partially computer controlled whereas your '87 BII does not have any computer control over the tranny at all.
Again, I don't know about this, but I'm thinking you're going to need the transmission, tranny computer, and any applicable wiring harnesses associated with the TCU.
Hopefully someone who knows more than I will set you on the straight path to ford enlightenment!
