Hello, I have a 1999 Ranger 4.0L and the Automatic. When I take off at normal speeds, it feels like the tranny is slipping slightly from 1st to 2nd. When I take off heavy, it does not do it and if I take off really slow, it won't do it either. Just normal. The truck has 104,000 miles. Otherwise, it shifts smoothly through the rest of the gears and it does not over rev. What do you think this is? Could it be something besides the tranny? Any help will be nice! Thanks

Describe the problem a little better.

Does the RPM jump and then drop when the 'slipping' stops?

Any noises?

I have had the fluid flushed and changed. The RPM'S are normal the whole time, it just seems to slip into second. It is not EXTREMELY BAD, but it is enough to worry me a little. Could it be something with the driveshaft, because I know that the Ranger had a problem with a clunking draveshaft when taking off during a stop. But I had the driveshaft just recently. Hope this helps you! Thanks
