i am in the process of dropping my tranny in my ranger. i have to replaqce the tranny pump. where is it located inside the transmision. is it easy to access? details please

Automatic trans? Its the very first thing you pull out of the front of the bellhousing.

yes automatic. i have no gears and they say those rangers are known for the pumps going out

I have the feeling this could get expensive...

Did you diagnose the pump as being bad?

If you have to ask where the pump is, you really shouldn't be looking to replace it.

Diagnose it first. No engagement could be many, many faults, not just the pump.

before you rip it to hell remove the tranny cooler line fire it up and see if it pumps out ATF. if it does your fucked rebuild the a4ld. if it doesnt tremove it and replace the pump/flush the lines and cooler/ replace the fluid ALLL OF IT!! btw it might need a band adjustment or a vacuum modulator depending on the symptoms. but i sugest you take it to a shop
