Well i got a 92 4x4 4.0L and before i swaped the a4ld for an m50d i went through 4 trannys in 2 years lol. So i figured i would swap the auto out for a M50d cause i heard they were a more reliable tranny. Everything was good till I was Driving from GA to NY and the fly wheel bolts snapped of and the clutch seperated from the motor. Some people have been telling me that it could be that my Crank output shaft is bent is this true?

That is possible. If the crank was bent though, you should have an engine speed related vibration.

did you over tighten them? thats my guess

It's not unheard of for these trucks to break flex plates. I've heard of a few cases of the bolts shearing off as well.

When you swapped did you get new bolts? The auto bolts are a bit shorter because the flex plate isn't as thick.

Is it possible that you went with the wrong grade bolt? I think the higher the grade, the more prone they are to shearing off, but you gain strength in another way and vise-versa if you go with a lower grade.

So I've heard anyway.

Just a thought.

yeah im debating on what to use now lol but im have a hard time finding bolts ford discontinued them and no parts stores have them

Ford can probably still tell you the spec for the bolts. Then it's just a matter of finding a specialty place that sells bolts with the same spec.

Oh i know what size they are they are just an od size i guess lol idk im gunna do some more searching tmo ill prolly come up with something.

Fastenal. They help you fasten all.

Dunno if you ever found those bolts but have you gone to Unadilla Nut and Bolt? That old guy has just about everything. Just bring one with you and see what he can do. He might have some.

In Syracuse we have Rumetco. They found exhaust studs for my 81 Maxim 650. I think they could find anything lol.

what exactly happened to your autos?
