alrighty well i started the tear down last night to change my slave cylinder an i thought my t casse was leaking from the input seal but turns out its coming from the seal on the output shaft of the tranny? how do i replace that seal?

an its the standard ranger tranny the m5od in the truck. also just need an idea on an easy way to drop the tranny from the truck? im workin on it in my garage so ill be laying on my back, an my floor jack wont reach the tranny either so? get a couple buddies an just lift it down an out?

Invest in a Transmission jack! It will be your best friend! Its simple you get a hammer and like a flat head screw driver and pry the old seal out and them take the new seal and a block of wood and tap it into place just don damage it. Least thats how i have ALWAYS done it and never had a problem.

If that seal is bad, you may want to consider replacing the output shaft bushing as well. This does require removal of tailshaft housing to press out the old and press in the new bushing. It is worth it, IMHO.

You do not have to take the tailpiece off to change the seal. Only if you chance he brass bushing.

alright so that seal just pops out then? well ill give it a shot tonight to see if i can get it out thanks.

If the seal is leaking, I would also change the bushing as well.

where do you get this bushing? none of the parts stores or ebay have them
