tranny issues

ok so my 89 rangers tranny is acting stupid. sometimes even with the clutch pushed it it grinds, clutch issue? the fluid was a low so i added enough. now unless i slam it into 4th it will grind or pop back out of gear. if its in 4th it will pop out at random moments. if i let it sit, it wont give me frist or second gear after i push the clutch in. also ill be sitting at light with the clutch in and it will sputter,creep forward,almost die and then it wont give me frist gear back. pumping the clutch helps once in a while.. my clutch is only 8 months old

If it was low on fluid before, you could have pumped some air into the hydraulics and it needs to be bled out. Air compresses and fluid doesn't, which is why they use fluid in stuff like clutches and brakes. What this means is when you push on the clutch, the air in the lines is being compressed instead of pushing the fluid down to the slave cylinder to disengage the clutch for you making it hard to put in gear and/or grind.

i never have checked that lol, my hanes book says my dran plug is on the side of the tranny but i dont see it. also what fluid do i need to put in it?

sounds like your clutch is messed up, prob either pressure plate or throw out bearing.

i'd try bleeding the clutch, pretty simple. I usually crack the bleeder and just keep the resivoir full for about 1/2 a small bottle of fluid the quickly crawl under there and close it. let gravity do all the work for me. allthought the popping out of 4th thing sounds like a different problem.
