tranny concerns?

i blew my manual tranny and the manual tranny i bought to replace it was 40 bucks. Now the guy i bought it from told me it worked fine but he said it will make a wine noise in first, second, third, so i want to know if that is something to worry about because im replacing a lot of stuff on the motor and i dont want to go through all the work and blow the tranny. but like i said the guy said it worked great, he just said the noise go on his nerves so he replaced it.

It's making noise for a reason. Most likely is countershaft bearings. They fail either from sheer wear, or from the transmission being run low on oil.

You'd best pull it apart and look.
