i guess this question would be for AllanD becuase I know he would be able to answer this lol,

I have a spare FM132 sitting around...what parts are in the two transmissions, that will interchange?? synchonizers? blocking rings? bearings??

I don't want to tear apart the FM132 to see, and then not be able to use the parts as I would like to get rid of it then whole if I can't use it....

anyone tranny guys know this???

while im not a 'tranny guy' and im certainly not AllanD, i wonder exactly what trans you have. its either an FM145 or an FM146 (ive never heard of a 132) and i would bet money there is no interchange. the 145 and 146 are made by mitsubishi and the m5 is made by mazda. if you want a better guess than this, look for a rebuild parts list for each trans from the same supplier and cross reference parts from one to the other

well the FM132 was the 2 wheel drive equivalent to the FM145 which was in the 4x4 rangers from 89-92 with a 2.9...was an option I beleive...but yeah...I was hoping to find the answer without that work lol....cause I will either sell the tranny to make room for other toys, or rip it apart to see if I can save some money on parts as my M5OD was a bastard rebuild from two high mileage trannies that both had issues with them.....we shall see :)

i see, glad to learn something new...

These transmissions are made by two different manufacturers. One is a toploader; the other has a bottom pan. One has synchronized reverse, the other doesn't. One has opposed cone bearings, the other has ball and straight roller bearings.

The most they are going to share is a couple of metric bolts. And that's only because there aren't that many appropriate sizes....

Actually the FM132 was the 2wd version of the FM146

They are relatively rare as they were only used from late '89 through the end of 1990.

Ford MIGHT have kept using them, but for the simple fact that effectively
all 2wd V6 rangers made in 1991-92 were 3.0's or 4.0's, not 2.9's

what's interchangable? the slave cylinder and that technically speaking isn't a part of the trans at all.

As far as I'm concerned an FM132 is only useful for it's core value at the local U-pull-it that charges a core on transmissions. failing that it's orth $0.08/lb as scrap.
