I have a 88 BII with a stock Tranny and yesterday while driving i heard a snap from the housing. the clutch is engaging/disengaging still,i checked. I looked underneath and the driveshaft is constantly spinning. but I have no power to the wheels, also i can shift into every gear without the clutch and it doesnt stall. what could it be? any input is helpful

sounds like it could be a rear differential problem if your driveshaft is spinning, i would try to pull the rear differential cover, drain the oil, and clean everything off and see if there are any signs of breakage or metal chips. and also check where the driveshaft goes into the differential that the splines are'nt worn out.

thanks, i thought that might be it also after further looking at it, ill do what you think i should and get back to you

turns out it was the driveshaft, once i tok the bolts off the rear side bearings came out,
next question: i plan on lifting it 4 ", should i get a shaft from the junkyard or spring for the new replacment A1cardone ones?

I went through the same thing....same truck but 4x4. My 3" lift in the rear ate up the CV jointed drive shaft. The junkyard will just have the same crappy drive shaft. You need to get a custom length, and one with the cardone or u-joints or whatever is not CV. I looked into having a junkyard one from an exploder modified, but ended up going with an Ebay one. I measured what length i needed, and he custom made it for $170...with u-joints.
