Tranmission Name & Link?

1994 4.0 0hv 4x4 what transmission was in that model and is there a link anywhere on transmission removal haven't had luck on finding that particular one

Oops. I was wrong. A4LD was discontinued in 1995, replaced by either the 4R44E or 4R55E. The 4R55E is a heavier duty transmission used on 4.0 models. 4cyl models and 3.0 models got the 4R44E.

BZZZZZZZT!! Wrong! If his truck was a '95, you'd be right. His is a '97. He's got either the 4R44E or 4R55E, depending on which engine he's got. See my above post.

Bah! Sorry, I had it in my head that you had a '97. Where I got that idea is beyond me. You have a '94, so I was right the first time (and so were the other guys), A4LD is the transmission you have.

True, but the OP has a '94... and the newer versions are just updated A4LD's anyway from what I've heard...

Pretty much remove the bellhousing bolts, remove the cover for the torque converter (don't know, haven't worked on one...) and remove the 4ish bolts holding the torque converter to the flex plate, remove the shift linkage from the drivers side, remove the 5 bolts holding the transfer case to the back of the transmission as well as the front and rear driveshaft bolts from the transfer case, remove both drivelines, pull transfer case off the back of transmission (will leak fluid, best to pull the transmission pan and drain that before dropping the transmission too...), remove the trans cooler lines from the passenger side of transmission, remove the electrical connector from the drivers side, then pull the transmission off the engine, a jack is highly recommended since it will be over 100lb... None of that is in any particular order, just how I remembered and typed it out...

Remove bell bolts, TQ converter bolts, linkage, unbolt rear mount, drop crossmember, and lower it down.

On a jack of course.

The A4LD, 4R44, 4R55, 5R55 are all descendants of the Pinto C3 with overdrive added on.
