Hello, glad to be here. I bought this truck brand new in 2000. This Ranger has the 3.0, 5spd, and Trailhead package. It had problem after problem the first year (frame and wheels bent during transport, engine replaced for multiple oil leaks that couldn't be fixed, tires recalled). After I got the bugs worked out, my dad bought it. His luck wasn't any better as he had to replace the oil pressure sending unit, lower ball joints, O2 sensors, speed sensor, and more. I just got the truck back from Dad in Dec 2011. Why? This was the first vehicle I bought new, its been babied and pampered its entire 70k miles, and it looks awesome.

Immediate plans - 1)touch up areas of paint flaking off. Apparently garaging, washing, and waxing frequently cause Ford paint to fall off! 2) fix the loudass leaf blower sound that is the fan running ALL the time. The fan clutch seems to be locked up. 3) tint the glass to match the camper shell.

Here are some of my other money sucks:

1991 GMC Syclone. One of 3000 made. Turbocharged, AWD, lowered, blacked out, factory stock except the Vette wheels. Faster than it looks...

1993 Jeep YJ w/ stock 4.0, 5spd, Dana 44, Ford 9", 4.56 gears, Detroits, spring over, 35" Swamper SXs. Great for cruising the Outer Banks...

I hope to learn a lot from this forum and contribute where I can. Thanks, Aaron

all three are nice. those vette wheels look cheap on a vette, but look great on the gmc!

the syck is a nice sight....rare indeed!

everybody loves a ford-i-fied jeep:D

unfortunately.....if that ranger frame was infact bent....i would have made ford recycle it.

you dont want to know the amount of stupid it would take to wreck a new ranger chassis...

no wonder the powertrain had unfixable leaks:icon_surprised:

but sounds like the worst is past.

time for a lightening engine swap:D
