I have an 07 ranger extended cab 4x4 with a 4.0L
We are thinking of doing a road trip for our honnymoon this summer. I am thinking of a slide in camper or a small trailer. What are your experiences with these set ups and what size/style would you recomend.
Thanks

Truck campers are not designed to fit Rangers.

Look into pop-up campers or a small (under 25') full size travel trailer.

pulled a popup with my ranger works great acually increased gas mileage good air flow is my guess

Not all truck campers are made for Rangers, but there are a few designed to fit small to midsize trucks, but are hard to find. There are usually one or two on e-bay every now and then.

I tow an old small 8ft pop-up with my 2.3L, and it handles it with no problem. With the 4.0 you could probably tow the biggest of pop-ups, and like jspafford said, you could probably tow a small self-contained unit. So, ultimately find a floor plan you are comfortable with.

Happy Honeymoon :hottubfun: lol.

I had a Casita Spirit Deluxe for years before we outgrew it. I pulled it with that 4-cylinder Mazda and an auto tranny effortlessly. I also used a 4.0 Ranger and it held the cruise on any hill. I really like that layout because you can leave the double bed as a bed with the side dinette. Ours had heat, AC, shower awning, a little generator in that box on the back--you name it. Awesome trailer and you can get parts easily from Casita. Scamp and Burro are two other brands that make these molded 'glass trailers. You can get a 13' or up to a little 19' Scamp 5th wheeler. I see these things on Ebay sometimes.

forgot to say congrats on the wedding im getting married this summer to in the outer banks NC, never thought of a road trip lol its a good idea

I did a honeymoon roadtrip the day after my wedding. I was a day late on that roadtrip.

It was in a 1964 Galaxie (this was 1995) pulling a U-Haul trailer--from North-Central Iowa, across the top of the country and then down the Pacific Coast highway to San Diego.

It was not uneventful.

Thanks for all the replies and congrats. Congrats to you Muddycowboy. I will start looking for a small trailer or pop up.
Thanks Again
Tim
