Trac-loc gear oil


Mic your existing shims. Then put in new ones with the same thickness and then put the new clutches and steels in in the same order the old ones came out in.

After taking mine apart the frictions were all about .010 thinner than the new ones with the friction on the gears were really worn down to less than 50%. I decided to set it up with three frictions with the steel first to get full contact on the gear side of the clutch pack. I set it up gear-S-F-SS-F-S-F-spacer. I could barely spin the pinion gears in and she is nice and tight now. Keeping my fingers crossed having trouble getting the preload correct on the drive pinion but all that tells me is the old crush sleeve is making full contact. I cant find my 1/2 inch breaker bar and need to fab up a special tool to hold the flange kinna hard to get enough torque laying on your back. Give me a lever big enough and I can move the world time to buy a good breaker bar.

how did it go?
 
So far so good in park I could almost tighten the lug nuts all the way before the clutches slipped and get no chatter when turning corners keeping my fingers crossed. I think I need to tighten the pinion a little more had a little trouble getting the proper preload on the pinion bearings I get a slight hum at high speeds with little throttle pressure.
 
Why did you take the pinion out again?

Nevermind, I remember.
