I have a 91 Ranger 2.9 auto 4x4 and she is running very rich, missing and stumbling. Pulled a code 23 out of her and checked the tps with my vantage pro. I have no power to the tps harness at all. I really don't want to rip this harness apart to chase down a wire so can anyone tell me where the other end of this thing is and what color wire I am looking for. Thank you for any help someone can provide.

How are you testing ground, are you using the battery or the ground on the plug?

The TPS is essentially a potentiometer. There is a reference voltage which is 5 volts constant, signal which is "what's left" of the reference voltage after going through the potentiometer (~.9 @ idle and ~5v at WOT), and a ground.

You're more than likely going to need to obtain a good vehicle specific diagram to trace this one out.. But if you had been testing at the plug only, you can't be too sure if it's the reference or ground that's having the issue at the plug.

I tested it both ways. I can chase it out without a schematic but it sure would be easier with one. I don't have one for this year ranger, I might have to see if I can find a factory evtm for it on ebay or something. Thank you for the reply.
