I have a 87 Ranger 2wd and I am getting ready to change the tranny fluid in it. It's got the Toyo Kogyo 5-speed. What fluid does it take? I've heard all kinds of different fluids to put in it, but what's the right one? I was thinking about running the Royal Purple syncromesh in it, Is it any good? Thanks.

GL-4 gear oil.

You can shred a couple of $20 bills in some conventional gear oil and get the same results as Royal Purple.

I use synthetic ONLY because I don't like retching under the vehicle. I can't stand the smell of conventional.

And avoid the marketing BS about putting racing products in your street vehicle. The needs are VASTLY different.
