I run the TK4 in my circle track mini-stock. I have two transmissions and want to rebuild one of them. No one in my area (southeast Virgina) does them. How hard is it to go through one of them? I do all my work on the truck, including engine building, but have never tried a trans.

Not answering your question, but I looked and there are a few people in Va that have the 4 speed that fits the 4 cyl truck. No 6 cyl trannies came up.

I find transmissions a little intimidating. I took apart a TK5 with intentions of repairing it, but someone had messed up the shifter interlock. It must have went into two gears at once since the two front gears had teeth missing.

It's not the easiest trans to overhaul. Requires special tools to pull bearings, with some creativity you can bypass that and get them apart. Parts are available for them.

Thanks for all the info. Found a fellow racer nearby who rebuilt both of mine. Now looking for a decent clutch fork. Mine is usable, barely. Would like one on better shape. Online sellers are all out of stock.

Can you weld it up and grind it to repair it?

I've thought about trying that. The other issue is the Y-shaped spring on the back side is partially broken on one leg. Might have to go the weld route if I can't find a replacement. Thanks.
