so i had my towncar out over the weekend..and i broke it....
when i got it it had a slight tick...(thats why i got it on the cheap)
my wife has been driving it for 6/8 months now........
i just started looking around for a good 4.6 for it......BUT....
i guess this is one of fords change years.....1991 lincoin towncar
it has a 2 bolt started and all i can find is a 3 bolt starter motor.....
what i would like to know is did this 2 bolt starter 4.6 from 91 come in anything elce? (f-150,or 250) if so....will it work?

p.s.
my wife loves this car and when i told her it was done she started crying....so i guess i need to fix it.....
thanks

Really? Have to fix it? Shes already done the crying... sounds like the perfect time to trade it in for a smaller engine in these times of $5/gallon gas.
Otherwise I really dont know...
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ford_Modular_engine

Judging by what wiki says about the engine, My guess would be you have an engine from one plant, while the ones you keep finding are from the other (Which one is Romeo and which is Windsor, no idea...)

my vin code is w......so i guess i'm looking for something with the same code from the same year....

Well if you look at the wiki site, it actually lists a LOT of vehicles that ran your same engine... But the easiest would be a same-year towncar. That way you dont have to worry about anything like needing to grab the ECU, splicing up a wiring harness, ect.

yea i just told her if i cant find the right motor then its going to the junk yard........more water works......

Rock auto has a "PERMANENT MAGNET GEAR REDUCTION; w/ 2 MOUNTING EARS" for a 1991 Lincoln Town car with a 4.6L engine. Probably could cross reference with something from a parts chain to get it locally if getting it online is not an option.
