hi guys, i have a 97 ranger with a 4.0 v6 auto 4x4,i would like to know just how much i can tow.i have a 1934 vintage stock car and would like to tow it around.the car and trailer weight about 4500 ilbs

I believe that wont be a problem. You will need a class 3 hitch since that is more weight than the bumper can handle. Hitches cost about 120 or so and you can get the wireing system that will plug right into your factory lights. Takes less than 10 seconds.

Don't forget trailer brakes.

You'll be fine with that set up but as mentioned get a class 3 hitch and at least have surge brakes on the trailer.

Brakes are for Sissys.

use the honda in front of you to slow down!

thanks guys but i was concerd about total weight towed? the car is about 2500 ilbs and the trailer is about 1500 lbs

it depends on what tranny and gears you have , i have a 96 4x4 with a 5spd and 3.73's that i towed a 1700 lb trailer with a 83 chevy fullsize on it down the road at 60 , no trailer brakes , not even surge , and i had no problem at all with it
