Tow Pig / Daily Driver Build

I got a new set of headlight/marker lights. They look a ton better than the factory ones.

I also started collecting parts to put an intercooler on the ole girl.

I got a '02 Powerstroke intercooler. It has aluminum ends on it unlike the '99-'01 intercoolers which had plastic ends. The plastic ends were known for cracking.

I still have to get an early year '99 intake spyder and intercooler tubes. There is a guy on the Powerstroke forums who makes custom polished aluminum intercooler tubes for the OBS 7.3's for $200 shipped.

Salem Fire Department? I live in Salem (small world huh??), but I think my house would burn down before you could get here.

Yup. That is where I got hired on at in April.

We might be able to save the perimeter drains if you didn't use too much gas.:icon_twisted:

I finally got the leveling kit installed on the front. The hardest part was getting the center pin hole in all the springs lined up.

It is still a little nose down, but not near as bad as before.

Lookin good! Now I have to pretty up my dodge, your ford's makin my towrig look bad, haha.

Man, that driveway looks aweful familiar to me...Oh yeah, now I remember, that's where I picked up those 44/9" axles last year....BTW the truck is looking awesome!! I would suggest adding a deeper trans pan, and also adding an external oil filter near the trans cooler, that way you can keep the trans pan cleaner...I'd also invest in an oil bypass filter...You can never have too many filters on a diesel :icon_thumby:

A good looking tow rig goes a long way.:icon_cheers:

Yup, the after pictures are in my brothers driveway; the same place you got the 44/9".

My transmission is on its way out. By the end of the year I will either have it rebuilt (not stock) or swap in a ZF5 manual. If it goes back with the auto, I am going to put a Super Duty transmission pan on it. They are deeper and have a drain plug.

I have been looking at an oil by-pass filter setup and a coolant filter setup. For the price of the coolant filter setup I have been looking at I can get an International DT444E water pump that has a spot for a coolant filter on it. The water pump is out of the smaller International trucks that used the 7.3 in them. I don't know why Ford didn't go that same route with the water pump.

Not sure...if you go auto, go with the 5R100, or the newer 5R110 and replace your E4OD, they have stronger internals and the OD band is almost twice as wide. The center support gave out on my buddy's 97, and he had swapped out for the 5R100 (Same ECU runs either one), and you can tell its better designed....

So the plugs and everything for my transmission will run the newer Super Duty automatic?

They should be for the E4OD and the 5R100 (I'm about 90% sure on this), The 5R100's started coming in the F250's in late 97 to 98, before the body style changed. I know they are pricey, but ATS as well as BD Diesel are two well known companies for building reliable high-torque trannies for diesel trucks. If you plan to rebuild your rather than swap it out, you can get a rebuild kit with upgraded parts for yours, I know the 5R100's internals will fit inside the E4OD's (just like the 5R55E's internals will fit inside the A4LD cases) case, so that could be an option for you as well. Or find you a JY tranny from a 98 to rebuild then swap out...

I got my TS chip installed this weekend and I must say, this isn't the same truck. I thought all the talk about the chips were a little inflated, but it is all it is cracked up to be.

I still need to find a spot to mount my switch. I wish they would add about 4' to the wire. I would like for it to be mounted in my center console.

Welcome to diesel 'bombing'.... I played with the pump on my Cummins for a lil less then an hr start to finish, and it feels like a whole new truck!

The ford looks good, and it seems the more that you add to that body style the better they look, which is usually unheard of as far as accessories go.

Now I am looking forward to my injectors crapping out so I can get a set of Stage 1's and a better HPOP. Hopefully this doesn't jinx me.

The E4OD was replaced by the 4R100 when the first Super Duty pickups came out. The 5R110 transmission (torqshift) came out in 03 with the 6.0L diesel.

I have been doing some reading and the 4R100 will swap into place of a E4OD with only swapping out the shifter cable bracket for the Super Duty version.
