Hello everyone.
I have 96 ranger 4 cyl manual trans. I've searched high and low on this forum and couldn't find an answer so my apologies if I missed it

My issue is that when I go to pull away the truck dips into a massive bog. If I hold the gas down it'll do that for about 5 seconds then click back on like a switch and take off. If I let my foot up and push it back down it'll act like nothing happened and take off. This problem is getting worse meaning its happening more often. I'm also have idle problems but I'm not sure if it's related.

Thanks for any input! I've used this site over and over again. It's very helpful

Ps I've tired different gas and I've cleaned the iac. And there's no codes showing up but I've been warned from my mechanic not to trust my code system

When was it last serviced? Fuel filter change....plugs changed? How are the spark plug wires? Lots off issues can cause this problem. If you don't know enough about it maybe take it to a shop and see what is wrong with it. It could be an electrical issue as well. Have a shop run a diagnostics on it.

I had the plugs and wires changed about 20k miles ago. I'll try to change the fuel filter and see where that gets me. Thank you for the help. Any other suggestions to try after would be appreciated !

I'd hit her with an oxygen sensor and a throttle position sensor as well. O2 sensors are supposed to have a service life of about 100K miles and can cause this issue. The TPS is actually kind of a wear item.

Sounds kind of like an issue i had with my old Mitsubishi, its MAF was disconnected and would bog down like this
