What would be the best way to touch up these old gen 1 emblems? peel off the old paint, and then just use a chrome spraypaint? I don't like the idea of blowing 20+ bucks on new ones. Is there a way i can get a nice shiny finish with paint?

go to a craft store get gold leaf kit it come in silver to you put the glue on then you rub this thinest of foil on it ,then clear coat looks good as new. not sure how the emblems would hold up but i have re done interior trim like this and works good .

I'd go for flat black, myself, especially if your truck in light-colored.

this truck is camoflauge, and its got a camo / chromy color scheme so if they were black, you wouldnt be able to see them

My grandpa actually used some silver touch up paint on his truck's badges and they turned out great. The other option is to rough them up a little and spray them with some dupli-color chrome spray paint. I have seen that done many times with great results.
