is there a difference between buyin torsion keys and having my stock keys cranked

torsion keys allow u to have correct alingment after cranking said torsion bars, however u can crank them a small amount wiht out adversly affecting your alingment

WTF are you smoking?

Re-indexed torsion keys do nothing more than allow you to increase the preload on the torsion bar beyond what the factory key will allow. It isn't recommended to crank the front end any more than about 2 inches unless you are friends with a front end shop, and the stock keys will almost always allow this. Higher lift on the front without new suspension components (a-arms, knuckle, shafts, etc) means reduced life on tie rods, ball joints, and cv joints.

You will still need an alignment after you crank the t-bars no matter how little you crank them. At a minimum, you'll have to reset toe, possibly camber.

If you have that rare ranger that for some reason doesn't have enough adjustment left in the stock keys, then by all means go buy some re-indexed keys AFTER you make sure they haven't already been cranked.

well, i suppose then that ranger torsion bar setups are not at all like any other torsion bar suspension on the market, yes u can crank torsion bars without the keys but doing so will make alingment damn near impossible to get into spec, but maybe that just all the toyotas ive ever worked on that work like that.....

Must be talking about some other part.

Torsion keys only allow you to "crank" the suspension up higher, nothing more (which makes the need for a realignment that much greater).

i installed indexed keys but only cranked them to the max height of the stock keys, still got the alignment into spec. the only reason i got them was becuase they came with my shackles, and i had to replace my key bolts anyway so i just put the new keys in while i had the chance. believe me it was a pain stick with the stock keys. and get a 2 arm gear puller it will keep you from stripping out the key bolt heads.
