Torsen from FX4 in my 2wd ranger?

I just ran into this from a junkyard. I got supposed 04 FX4 level II rear for 350.00. Got it home SOB it was just 4.10 28 splined trac-loc I was pissed. All I wanted was just the center out of it since my 99 ranger is using the Mountaineer 01 rear axle they are bigger bearing and 31 splined. So I just ordered a Torsen new for 475.00 +20 for shipping. Taking the axle back to them Friday to get my money back.

The Torsen T2 8.8 is the exact same rear as the Ranger torsen rear. There ia miss info on the net some try to say it is a Torsen T2R. According to the place I ordered my Torsen from and Torsen they are the same.

Many later axles, even open diffs came with the 90W140 synthetic gear lube only label.

Because that oil turns into thick chocolate pudding if it is mixed with conventional oil

And when I say pudding, draining a diff's worth of the 90w140 into
a drain pan then adding four quarts of lukewarm 10w40 from your
engine to the pan and allowed to sit overnight will turn the whole
mess into a soft rubbery mass that you can literally lift out of the
drain pan in one gelatinous piece of nasty.
