what the heck should i torque the spindle to steering knuckle bolts to? i think its 55ftlbs, but not 100%. does it even matter? i bought a haynes manual purely for the torque specs, and it has almost none of them in there! any help would be good! thanks.;brownbag;

According to the tech section on this site it says 35 to 45. I have the ford manual and can't find it listed but 35 to 45 sounds about right.

When in doubt, measure the stud diameter and look it up in the torque-by-size chart in your Haynes book or elsewhere.

55 ft-lbs seems VERY high.

Yeah, 55 is a little on the high side maybe but not too bad. I think spec is 35-45. I usually go 45-50.

I snapped one already without a breaker bar. Listen to what the other guys said

**** it! its already done at 55! it should be fine, close enough to 45.:temper:

thanks for all the help though guys.:derisive:

what really sucked, was the damn key on the washer between the hub nuts broke off! ive never had that happen! and hopefully never again!

My Ford book shows 40-50 on those nuts, I doubt 5 over has hurt anything.
