Top 4X4 Site Sucks

I voted about 25 times a day for the last 2 days. But everytime i go back the the wed site it has the same about of votes as it did before i even started. It does not even count all the votes.

I'm wondering about the vote on that website too. I can see more than one vote from the same computer not being counted . . . BUT-
The count was 471 votes for TRS when I voted from home this morning. Then 2 hours later, I voted at work from a different computer and the new vote count was- 471 votes. WTF?

Maybe there's something to do with the month changing, but I am starting to wonder . . .

Guys, take a deep breath.

Immediately updating a vote is one possible architecture, but it's a really stupid one if there might be quite a lot of simultaneous hits on multiple servers.

They are probably batching updates. With canned software that handles the worst case. There is MUCH less server load to update a count once by 1000 than to update it 1000 times by 1.

I'd be concerned if it went down. Just a tiny bit since this site really doesn't depend on that.

I wonder about this website. The site gets traffic by people voting for their favorite site, the site offers no useful information other than the number of hits a site allegedly receives.

Personally, I think it is just a clever way for them to make money by putting up a page and having popular pages link to it, so they can make more money from the advertisements they have posted.

Who the hell needs their approval? We already think we're number 1.

Clever scheme if you are right.

Make up an award for top 4x4 site and tell all the 4x4 sites you can google up about it. Get them to send hits on your sites in the guise of voting. Get per/hit ad money on your site.

This was Randy's idea. I've been against this stuff for a long time but gave in at Randy's recommendation to try it out and see if it helps more enthusiasts find TRS. I do admit it's caused me to look at a few other sites because of their ranking. Plus, I just thought it would be fun to see if we could actually place high one month.

Be honest though, If pirate4x4 got on that list it would blow everyone out of the water.
