Is a shackle flip the way to get the back of this truck down? Maybe remove the helper spring from the leaf packs? My truck was a 2.0 but is a V8 now. Maybe V6 springs would raise the front and level it back up?

When I did my std cab 88 V8 swap... I used V6 super cab front springs.

If it were mine... I would probably start there and see where you end up. I still used mine for a truck to haul stuff and didn't really want to lower it.

I would follow Uncle Gumps advice. Your camber is probably messed up right now. Getting the other springs in there should get the ride height closer to being right and will bring your camber back to normal.

Finding v6 coils or just using spacers would be the cheapest option.

Just using spacers, if you can deal with how soft the 4cyl springs are, would be best for straight line performance. All about that weight transfer.

I vote 4.0/2.9 supercab springs... lowering the rear still leaves you with weak front springs and a bad alignment that will probably ride like crap and bottom out alot. When you buy a real lowering kit for the front the springs are shorter but usually a bit heavier, as well as providing the neccessary parts to keep the alignment true.

Be a man.... throw a 8.8 from an exploder in there on top the springs. it will level out just get some pinion shims and lift shackles.

I just happen to have a '90 ext cab 2wd 2.9 Ranger for parts so I can use it's coil springs. I have 165/80R15s on the front and they have scrubbed from time to time over bumps while turning. The 275/60s on the back stick out a little so I can't go too low in the rear.

Are 165's rated for enough weight to support a V8?

The cars at my local track that have big blocks and wheelstand well out of the 60' have narrower front tires than a 165.. And I'm sure weigh more than a ranger.

Race tires though.

Just an update but I finally got around to swapping in a set of springs. I ordered a set for a '90 standard cab 4.0 and it helped massively. Can't say how much since I replaced all the front end bushings while I was in there and even found new bushings for my front sway bar. Now I think the narrow 165/80s are really holding it back from handling pretty good but it rides better, stiffer and sets fairly level like stock.
