Seems that 162,000 original miles is fairly low. looks like 6-8 inch lift. I've heard on here that the jeep inline v6 4.0 is a good strong engine. Wondering if the " trouble getting spark in the morning " issue sounds like a easy fix? Also the vacuum issue with the auto hubs, how easy or hard of a fix is that? I would consider this as a DD seeing as my ranger is about to bite the dust i think. Lemme know if this would be a good deal or not?

the 4.0 jeeps are good motors. could be a cracked distributor cap looks like a good deal i would pick it up for that price

If it is carbed there could be moisture under the distributor cap. Or the rotor/cap is just in need of replacing.

Vacuum hubs are fixed by replacing them with manual hubs!

It has $400 worth of tires on it..if I were closer I would pick that up in a hot second.

thats exactly what i was thinking that just the lift alone with the wheels and tires are worth more than 400. But i wouldn't want to get in over my head cause i would need a daily driver and something to take me about 130 mile round trip twice a week for school....but if it was a distributor problem that is easy to fix..at least as the cap goes. I was also gonna ask how involved is a manual hub conversion? Cause all my 4x4 vehicles have always been manual and they seem more reliable anyways but i dont know how easy or hard it is for someone who isn't the best mechanic?

the Jeep may have the vacuum axle switch that some had. Still many easy manual fixes available on the net and cheaper than hubs. I'd get it.

You better jump on that. That year has D-44 rear axle. 4.0 engines are very durable. The spark issue should be an easy fix.

i suppose even if i did have to put a couple hundred more into it i'm only in 6-700 which would be a good damn price for a nice lifted jeep. I may take a look at it tomorrow or monday and see how it all works out.

our jeep 4.0 inline 6 has 310,000 miles on it. My neighbors has 400,000 miles on it. His is still running, ours has a blown head gasket, which can be replaced and when it is, it will be drivable again. So 160,000 miles on these motors is nothing.

hmm guess i waited to long. It was a good deal. I was a little skeptical i'm sure there were a couple more problems....i've usually heard that if it sounds to good to be true then it probably is. I think i'm aiming towards a 2wd shortbed 2.3L ranger anyways for commuting to eugene and back, i should have known not to go outside a ranger. BTW thanks for all your imput everyone i really appriciate it as i'm not the sharpest knife in the drawer when it comes to mechanics.

Not only can it be replaced, but it's easy. I did one in a parking lot in 4 hours.
