ever since i got my b2 my temp sensor doesnt really work. when i start it up, the temp guage gradually moves(like 1/4") and stays there, and when i shut it off it goes back down, which leads me to think my rig is running too cool. i have a aftermarket explorer radiator(i think its one of those nice 2core jobs). im not really sure its not the sendor going to the guage. any idea on how to tell if its running too cool? im thinking the previous owner took the t-stat out of it but not really sure.

Ok then go down to the parts house and get the 195* thermostat that is supposed to be in there and put it in.. Then if the gauge don't comply put in another sender for the gauge..
The size of the radiator don't mean anything when it comes to the standard temperature. The only thing a bigger radiator will do is to allow more towing or low speed offroad. It's job is to take the heat from the engine and dissapate it. The smaller one that came in the vehicle does just as good a job as the bigger one until the vehicle is used for purposes not intended.

Mine truck has the huge A/C radiator in it and runs the same temp. as my dads truck that doesnt have the A/C radiator. Ive had it up to 190 in trafic and to 210 after i shut it off, but thats nothing to worry about.

Take the temp sending wire the single wire sensor and touch it to ground with the key on, if the guage goes to hot then it is either the sending unit or the t-stat. if your heater works good and the upper radiator hose gets hot just call that your norm temp and not worry about it. I wouldnt waste money on a new sender just take one out of the bone yard and see if you get different results for a couple bucks. If the engine warms up quick and holds a steady temp and runs good leave it alone.

normal temp isnt even at the bottom hash marks on the guage, guess im going to try to ground out the wire and see what happens then

If your really that worried, put a manual temp. guage on your truck.
