Picked up a TomTom One (130 i think ill have to look on box in the truck) Saturday! man i love this thing! I think TomTom makes the best GPS... Advance Auto had them for $99!!! The cool part is how i modded the unit! i changed the little arrow that represents you to the backend of my truck!!!

For those with TomToms to do this:

-Take Pic of ur trucks back end
-Upload
-arase background completely and replace with RED (255,000,000) it has to be red or pic wont show up right! the red becomes transparent when on unit!
-Resize to 80 pxl x 80pxl.
-Save as truck.bmp (BITMAP(24-Bit; it has to be 24-bit or wont work!!!)

-Hook up TomTom to computer
-Go to My computer, click on TomTom.
-Locate "art" folder. then find "cars" folder.
-Copy that 24-bit 80 x 80 pic here.
-disconnect and restart TomTom
-go to preferences and change the car icon to ur truck!!

I hate TomTom GPS units. If you ever try a Garmin, you will too.

I do like that you can change the icon to a custom one though.

i did try a garmin, i like the TomTom better. i guess its just a matter of preference...

Cool mod.

TomTom's are nice for simple travelers. When I drove a truck, I threw one out of the window. I bought a Garmin Nuvi 5000 and it is WAY better than any TomTom. The only thing that beats it are some separate transponder/software solutions available for laptops.

I had a garmin for about an hour. Girlfriend won it in a raffle and gave it to me since she doesn't have a car. Her mother got pissed and made her take it back and give it to her grandfather. It's currently lost in his garage, the raffle was months ago. I woulda been using it the next day.

hellz to the NO, buddy, i seriously, seriously loathe those... those.. THINGS!!!! but i will say that the garmin pwn those damn tomtoms.

I use a motor carrier road atlas and CoPilot Truck on my laptop. That's in the big truck. The F-350 has my Magellan in it. Works OK but cannot get updated maps for it anymore so the Magellan is a pretty basic moving map.

300 can get you a nice Garmin Nuvi 5000 with the latest maps of North America shipped to your door.
