Todays weather

It’s been low to mid 40s here in the daytime, very sunny, and at night 35° or so. It’s supposed to rain Thursday Friday, with a high of like 35. Saturday night to Sunday we’re supposed to have a wintry mix, with a low of 16°

I’ll just stay home. It’ll all pass in a day. I grew up in New Jersey and upstate New York, and I think I still remember how to drive in the snow, but I’m surrounded 1,000,000 country boys with four-wheel drives that can’t wait to prove that they really don’t work any better than anything else on a sheet of ice.

I might get to put the Missing Linc in four-wheel-drive for the third time since I bought it in 2020. Big Red F250 is too big a target to try.

Oh, and thanks for sending it our way.
no problem at all, I just line it up on I 75 and give a big push.

Real feel sub zero on Saturday with chance of snow. Looks like I will be lining up some work in the house, not the garage.

Yeah, the forecast isn't looking great. Single digit lows for the forseable future and teens during the day. I think today is supposed to break freezing for a minute then start dropping again.

It's currently 60. Tomorrow will be 59. The cold air moves in on Friday, and the high Saturday will be 22 with a low of 5 degrees. 5-years ago people in north Texas lost gas and electric for like a week. My daughters house had quite a bit of damage from a frozen pipe that busted. I lucked out and didn't lose any utilities.

I have my two exterior faucets insulated and a heater set up in the bathroom out in the shop to keep that from freezing. I'll have to let the water out there run at a slow trickle instead of a drip The water line is only 18" under the ground, and it's insulated where it comes up out of the ground and into the wall of the shop, but it would freeze in the single digits. Today I put extra insulation around it for extra precaution.

My Jackery 500 is charged up. My gas furnace has an outlet next to it that it plugs into. I'm wondering if my furnace would still run if I plugged that cord into my Jackery if the power went out.

The blower motor is a power hog, if it did run it wouldn't be for long.

But if yours is only 110 it may not be much of a furnace compared to a northern one, mine is 220.

it teased us with near 40 today. tomorrow the bottom falls out and will stay out for a week or so.
no problem, I have a parka and long johns but not enough sense to stay inside.

Snow and/or freezing rain in the forecast? WTF!

Quick; to the liquor store!

It's a Georgia thing . . .
Snow in Georgia, is an evil conspiracy, thought up by Big Milk and Big Bread, to drive up sales by inducing wild-eyed panic in the population.

We frantically strip the grocery store shelves, of milk and bread, then drive our trucks into ditch on the way home. It's almost a religion here . . .

Here too… enjoy your milk sandwich in the ditch. People are stupid.
