Coldest I ever been in was 12F. It was not fun.

We’ve gotten into the negative double digits before but it isn’t common. That’s something people up further north in the US and Canada see on a regular basis. They can keep it.

I was in a frozen warehouse...ice cream section is -30F. It was by far the coldest I've been in

-22F this morning. I gave my kid a ride to school since I had to leave around that time anyway, and saw someone walking to school in a skirt and shoes, like one of those anime characters. At least she had a jacket on.

Yeah, the light powdery stuff is annoying to shovel. It just slides right off the shovel unless you go old school and buy a coal shovel. Better than the heavy wet stuff than screws your back up for several days. Not that the first real snow wasn't a treat. I think it got warm enough that is solidified the snow enough to make the snow blowers complain. And then the snow plow came through...

Plow came through here while we were working, not sure if it was just because we were out or if he does it all the time, but he straightened his blade when he got to the driveway so it didn’t push the full plow load into the top of the driveway. I usually try to shovel a little into the road and a clear spot ahead of the driveway so the plow can unload before it crosses the driveway too but hadn’t got that far yet yesterday. Got a plow for the 150 and a plow for the tractor but there’s so many vehicles choking up the driveway there’s no place to push anything to. Was hoping to do something about that before this winter, was supposed to get my green Ranger together, weld the suspension on the 88, pull that and the 97 Explorer out, throw a flat bed on the grey Ranger and get the heads from the dump truck to a machine shop. None of which got done.

That’s not cold, I helped a buddy try to work on his Jeep once, outside when the high was something like -10. It was cold enough that you couldn’t chug a beer without half of it freezing in the can while you tried to down it. Straight up he brought them out of the house, cracked them, started chugging away and you would feel the ice particles start to go down your throat and then it would completely freeze and stop coming out of the can. Crazy.

Ahh yes, the driveway shuffle. We do it frequently. You would think that with a regular driveway and turn around plus a sort of governor’s drive that we would have oodles of room and it wouldn’t be a problem, but… scatter a few broken vehicles around and it becomes an obstacle course. Still better than our old house with a long, windy, steep driveway and one parking spot at the top, no room at the bottom to turn half the fleet around, and one vehicle always blocking one vehicle and yeah. There was a deck over half the turn around and the dump trucks didn’t fit under it to turn around. My Ranger blocked one dump truck in and got parked in the turn around. Unless we needed the dump, then they switched places… often. Backing down that when it was slippery out was fun… things are a lot flatter here and I prefer it that way.

Glad its not just me. Ive got 3 motorcycles in the garage waiting for engine rebuilds, my Ranger has a fix it list, F150 needs some love, and I got a bunch of cool parts to fix up the DRZ, and have a bunch of welding/carpentry projects worth of ideas and material. But none of it will get done. I will be working 12 hour/ 6 day weeks for the next 2months, then 50+hr weeks until June....so its gonna be only laundry beer and sleep for now.

Glad its not just me. Ive got 3 motorcycles in the garage waiting for engine rebuilds, my Ranger has a fix it list, F150 needs some love, and I got a bunch of cool parts to fix up the DRZ, and have a bunch of welding/carpentry projects worth of ideas and material. But none of it will get done. I will be working 12 hour/ 6 day weeks for the next 2months, then 50+hr weeks until June....so its gonna be only laundry beer and sleep for now.

Yeah, that doesn’t even scratch the surface of what all I have backlogged to do, that’s just what I had considered reasonable to get done before now. Two concussions within 5 days changed that. Things went from making progress to on hold. Now I’m starting to finally gain a little bit of usefulness, enough that I could try to start doing a little here and there and the weather is too cold and miserable. I need a garage. Maybe this year I can make that happen. I figure if I can get a garage, two stall with heat and electric and a lift I should be able to cut my repair times in about half, which would be a huge benefit. Maybe even less than that. Right now I waste a considerable amount of time dragging stuff out and packing it away and having stuff scattered too many places to be efficient, plus I’m at the mercy of the weather.

The F-150 and dump both need some bodywork. Ranger needs a little love, the green one that is. The blue one needs a front clip and frame straightened. 97 Explorer needs a fuel pump and engine bay and front clip back together. Box truck needs the cabinets finished in it and the cab ripped off and turned into a trailer. Shed needs finished. Couple little woodworking projects on the list. Let’s not even talk about all the work on my property and projects around my parents.

And my desktop computer needs a new power supply. That it’s needed for over a year now and should be here Friday.

Hearing your guys lists make me feel a bit better about mine. I've already resigned to the fact that nothing is going to happen this winter... and until I get my arm back to working condition. I have been aquiring parts and pieces though. Just hope my plan comes together this spring.

My computer/clerical office stuff is a whole 'nother list. Last Sunday was a perfect 70 degree sunny day, I watched so many motorcyclists with envy as I was running errands and putting up a for sale sign two cities over for my mom who refuses to retire from real estate.
There's probably a bunch of other stuff I forgot...on the plus side my garage is getting dialed in ever since I decided I don't want it to be a hardware store anymore, and cleared out everything but tools, parts and toys.

Haha that how my buddy's make feel, they have more land and way more crap scattered on them than I do...one buddy has a 12,000 sq foot shop full of stuff, and 5 U-Haul containers packed full too....and that is just the leftovers at his rental property from when he moved to 10 acres in Oregon....he's got me beat lol.

all i have to do is clean the garage out and knock down the front house. and i am worried about that since its been on my list for like 5 years.
