Today's bad luck...

I know a good lawyer if you need one.

Law goat handles all of my legal issues, especially the ones from my tax fraud cases stemming from my incompetent accountant goat...

Did they look at the truck yet? I’ve had insurance people say “yeah well fix it no problem” then when they look at it go “oh yeah that totaled, just the cost to paint it alone.”

Yep, blue book on the truck is probably low enough that they will total it. But after you jump through the hoops you'll have plenty of money to fix it yourself.

I have a friend with an '88 4 Runner that hit a cow late at night that got out and was standing in the road (black cow, black road). The cow owner's home owners insurance ended up totaling the runner but looked up the replacement value (which is stupid, as with Rangers the last few years) and ended up giving them a stupid amount of money and they bought it back for like $350 and he'll just fix it himself...

They havent looked at it yet ill probably be taking it in next week. I do agree they most likely could total it out, however i hope to convince them to fix it other wise i guess ill have to buy it back, fix it myself, and use that nice influx of cash to get my 4.0 swap started. But i really dont have the experience to start trying to weld a bed side on.

Sorry for your troubles. But consider sourcing a rust free bed from down here and shipping it. Put a wanted add on Craigslist and I’ll bet someone would drive down and back for little money to get it for you in this economy. I bet you could buy A straight one for $3-400.

Sounds enticing however i have 2 beds with good sides but rusted out at the wheel wells. If i didnt that would be the plan i could probably even have it put on a truck from my works distribution facility in Birmingham.

Couldn't you just have someone hit it in the other side and just call it a custom mod, and be done with it LOL.

Tell the insurance company that if they don't pay to fix this Ranger that they'll have to pay you in cash the amount it would cost to buy one of them new Rangers...not that they care, they're not in it for us, they're in it for the money they make in not paying out claims.

Well i went in to get the estimate done today, body shop says its 3000$ worth the work. I JUST DONT SEE HOW. Lol i think they are just in cahoots witn the insurance company to just total out my truck.

Hard to second guess without knowing exactly what parts and labor they quoted. Replace the bed side? Or straighten it? The truck is old, so they probably have to paint the whole thing because they can't match the old faded paint. $3000 doesn't go far these days.

Yea ima try and get them to fix it im gonna offer that they dont paint and send it to me freshly sandblasted that way i hope it will keep it below total out threshhold, and i can paint it to match the work ive already done. If not does anyone know where to find a straight rust free 1st gen 7ft bed. And the quote was for new bed side, and paint.

Another Ranger gone because people can't drive worth a damn and insurance companies love to just total them out. I love my Ranger and Bronco 2 but this is exactly what I fear. Especially here in Idaho where people seem to think they are the only person in existence, pull out in front of you just to turn at the next driveway, or just to be the first one at the stop light a block away.
I hear that! I’m in north Idaho and every time I go down 95, there is always a Subaru driver in the way! Just pull out without a care in the world!

LOL, it took me 15 years to find one that needed a little work within driving distance. Carpart.com has them down south.

Labor is expensive, you don't just throw a bedside on a 35 year old truck in an hour.
