Today sucked HARD(hospitals and trucks falling on people)

he is very lucky and I am glad that he is ok.
About 8 months ago, A guy at the body shop I used to work at was out at a junk yard and he didn't use jack stands... needless to say the jack gave out and set the car on top of him. They found him 2 days later... thats why I always use jack stands no matter what

I've gotten better, but used to be extremely paranoid about getting under jacked up vehicles. Jack stands are a must or I'm not getting any part of my body underneath the truck. I leave the jack under there too if I can get away with it. I'll change tires and stuff like that with a jack, but what the hell, I'd never stick my head in the wheel well while doing it! Even when I am on jack stands I'm still thinking about what an earthquake would do.

A good friend of mines father lost his life while working under his car in the driveway 10 years ago. It was jacked up with a handy-man type jack only, it slipped and the car fell on him. He thinks his brother caused it by accident, and never admitted it. Could you imagine living with that?

Wow, thank god he's alright. That could certainly have ended up worse.

Wow! I hope your friend recovers quickly! That broken jaw thing can take awhile to heal! I had a F250 fall off a floor jack while working on the front brakes. I was extremely lucky to not get injured at all, I use jackstands faithfully now.

Despite his injuries, he is very lucky! Could have been a funeral to go to!

That sounds like a damn nightmare, dude! damn..

heres to a speedy recovery.

screw get well soon, get well now!

Dodging close calls gets you to be old.

That wasn't a close call. He's more than lucky. Tell him to go light some candles.

Who's the patron saint of 4-wheelers?

wow, that definately sucks, i've had some pretty near misses in my garage working on my ranger too now that i think about it.

One instance i was jacking up the front to put the frame rails on some big beefy wood blocks that i had..but couldn't get it high enough, so out came the hi-lift....i had hooked the hi-lift under the front frame rail..which seemed safe enough because there was a groove where the jack was securely in place..safe to say the truck shifted as i was jacking it, lucky i was standing out of the line of fire from the jack cause it catapulted right into the wall of the garage and stuck into the plywood. that could've been bad if i was in the way.

I'm back from the grave!

Muhahahaha

So it's not too bad. It could have been much worse. I cracked the area right below my ear and TMJ, and the right below my lip on the right side.

They brought in two big time surgeons to tear me up. The upper fracture was right under my facial nerve so they wired me up, the other they plated.

I'll have pics soon.

Thanks for all the thoughts.

Adam,
My apologize for not finding this thread earlier!

You always do insist on learning the hard way....

I have been very lucky myself with all the incredibly stupid things I have done.

After you got a hold of me earlier I was hesitant to climb under the exploder until someone else was present. I always use jack stands and if possible I slide a few tires under the frame too.

God bless

you have some shitty doctors ... the pain meds should make it where your unable to type :) thats what the did to me when i F%#$ my leg up .. i tried to get on the computer once while on the pain meds stared at it for a sec drooling and decided this wasnt gonna work

Don't take this the wrong way, but I kind of wish I could break my jaw on both sides. It would save me about 10 thousand in cosmetic surgery someday, if it happened just right..

Man you are one lucky guy

And I'd also like to know why you aren't a total zombie

I get work on a tooth done and I'm out of action for days.
Each needle stick after dental work hurts like pressing a 10d
nail through my jaw.

I cannot imagine wht that musta felt like.

But I still think you should change your user name:)
