To change the core support or not ...

So my core support is rusty/rusting/rotted, especially around the body mounts.
You can kinda see it in this pic ...

Some local guy has one for 140$ ... haven't asked if it's new or used.

Thing is ... why should I change it? I can't spend 10$ (let alone 140$) if I don't see the point. And right now, I don't. Yeah, it's rotted but it's sturdy and isn't falling apart although the body mount bolts move around.

So convince me ... why should I replace it?

i wouldnt, just clean up all the rust, hit it with some rustoleum, and leave it be

i would just brush off the loose stuff hit it with some good rust treatment and then get some good heavy gauge sheet metal and pre-drill the bodymount hole and the fab it so that it comes up the front and the back of your support [assuming that it is a box frame type set-up] and then screw it in place. would use at least 18 gauge sheet metal for durability

replace it. "cleaning it up" isn't going to do you any good because its coming from the inside out. if you can weld, and have a little patience, changing your core support isn't all that bad. You can bolt them in too, but I prefer doing it the right way.

Mines rotted out and my body bushings are gone in the front, so my truck doesn't look like it's lifted at all, but it's leveled. At least it's not a four inch difference anymore. :D
