Hey everyone,

Frist time on this site, im working on my buddy's 84 ranger with a 5 Speed Tk5.
Everything worked great untill he parked it on day and now it stuck in a high gear (3rd or 4th) You can move the shifter into most gears but it stays in the same gear.

If you put the truck in 4low it will go forward. and if you put the clutch in it will roll back and forth.

So... I have a Fm 145 with a transfer case I could throw in there out of a 86 Bronco 2, But the 145 in 2.5 inches longer. Do I need anything else ie: Flywheel, clutch, slave etc. Or just some Longer/Shorter drive shafts.

And Is the FM 145 better than the TK5 or im I just shooting my self in the foot.

Thanks,

Trav

No, it's not better than the TK5.

But I'm wondering what you really have, since 4WD TK5s and FM145s are the same length.

If you have it in hand, maybe not.

But if you're going out to buy one, I wouldn't.

The length on that page is for an FM146.

Ok thanks,

So my best bet is to find another TK5?

Easiest bet, perhaps.

Best is to put an M5OD in, but then you WILL have a two inch length difference to deal with.

Ill look around for another TK5 or a M5OD, but my buddy just wants/needs his truck on the road. So I might slap the Fm 145 in for now.
It should bolt right in... right?

Thanks for your help.

Well no luck on finding another TK5, So it looks like im putting th Fm145 in.

Is there anything I need to watchout for?
