Tires/lifting

How come I can't post in the wanted classifieds...it doesn't look like anyone uses them....

It's down. Broke. Something...

Ohh ok. I'm looking for shackles for my explorer to lift the rear end. I already have the coil spacers on order, got them from a guy on explorer forums for $50 shipped! Now all I need are the shackles. The longer the better since I KNOW that my leafs are saggy, my rig is 20 years old lol.

Can I get longer shocks to add to my rear lift? I don't want to do aal's cuz they would make the back end too stiff from what i've read in several places.

Shocks dont lift, they dampen movement so the ride isnt bouncy.
However you will need longer shocks to accommodate for the lift

Ok, so how much of a shackle lift should I go for with the coil spacers up front? I can buy up to 2.5" long shackles. I know my leaf springs are sagging, so would longer shackles compensate for that?

How much longer shocks will I need in the rear to accomodate the 2" suspension lift?

Get shocks for the amount of lift you want, these questions have been answered many times in this thread. 2in coil spacers for the front, 2 inch lift shackles for the back. Body lift if you want more. Get shocks for the amount of suspension lift you add on. Any shock website or shop will have applications clearly listed for your vehicle with the amount of lift you have.

Duh, sorry. Thanks, any suggestions for good rear shocks?

skyjackers nitro shocks, like 40 a shock, last forever

Great thanks so much. Now I know exactly what I need. I thought about the 2.5" shackles, they're only like $4 more than the 2" ones. Might just give me the added rear height I need :)

I am still looking for shackles. i found a set that I've thought about putting on, but they're like $80 for a pair. They'll give me the 2" that I need, however.

Is there anyone on here that has made shackles from home?

This is what I would do, get the 60.00 axle flip kit, that will give you about 4" lift in back, then do the washer spacer lift on the front from the tech page, that will give you 2" in front, and then just go with the 32's and be done, that is the cheapest way to go.

you might end up with a little forward rake, but it would look alot nicer then dragging your tail.

Robert

I agree with this guy and if your rear sags 2 inches then the rear should o ly be like 1-2 inches higher.
