I know wrong forum, but i kinda need a fast answer...

Rusty #2 blew a steer this morning, and ive robbed the 1 decent one off rusty #1 to replace the one that popped last week...

(The other 2 on rusty #2 are pretty decent yet)

Either way, what year did rangers quit running 14s, and do they all run the same bolt pattern? Or did they switch in 97 like the Fseries? Trying to get an idea as i scour the boneyard for a rim/tire.

Hey, Rusty. Sorry to hear that the old gal is having fits. I’m sure that someone more knowledgable than myself will chime in with better info, but I do know that my ’92 has 15” wheels on her. I also looked into putting rims on her from a 2000 Ranger, but was told by someone else on the site that the bolt pattern is different. I just looked through my threads to try to find the specifics, but I must have posted on someone else’s and couldn’t locate it.

Good luck on getting your wheels under you again soon!

They always had the same pattern, they made the center hole smaller in ‘98 which gives older 4x4’s fits but I don’t think that bothers 2wd trucks.

Explorers are about the same. Newer than 02 and you might run into offset problems.

Have you considered just getting a set of 15's? That would open up your tire selection dramatically. Usually I can find a set around here for a pretty reasonable price, and a set of used tires to match is around $150.

I did consider 15s, and may still do that. Just trying to wait untill winter closes in a bit. 235/75/15s wont fit a first gen will they? Without rubbing?

Right now im just kinda patching things togther as they quit, got a u joint clankin and i think the water pump has began to dribble (seen a couple drips this morning when i stopped at gas station, but nothing later on).

Alternator is suspect to. Thinking thats whats screwing with my gauges, its charging, but i think the regulator is junk.

Either way, i call up my favorite little ghetto tire shop that sits in the shady part of town, low and behold they have a good used 205/75/14 mounted and balanced for 30 bucks. Think ill roll with that for now.

The 14 for 30 bucks definitely sounds like the right solution for now.

I think 235's might rub a tiny bit. Seems to me that's what AllanD was running years ago on his 2wd when I went by his place in PA and they were a little close. I thought some of them had 215's mounted stock though.

Tire carnage from this morning. I was 2 mi from work when it blew, limped a mile to the gas station before i figured it had enough, walked the other mile :) lol

I was wondering about the 235s because i know BFG offers an A/T in that size, and ive always had good luck with those in bad weather, as well as the old school wrangler RTS tires. Pry just put some cheapo hankooks on the front.

Yikes.

I definitely think you can get them on there, and worst case have a little rubbing at full lock in a turn.

Did you run over a stab rabbit? They can be tricky to see.

I have 235-75-15's on my '88 and my '89 and they do not rub at all, ever. That is on factory wheels though and both are 4x4 trucks. Some of the 2wd trucks seem to sit lower so they might rub there.

235’s were kinda tightish on my stock 4x4, I don’t think they will go on a stock 2wd.

It is sad, 15/16’s are the new 14”.

I had 235/75/15s on my 08 2wd colorado and they would rub just a touch on full lock, it had 205/75/15 factory. But i cant really remember how much clearence difference there was between the two trucks.

Will 15s of a box body crown vic work? I know where i can get a set of those pry free.
