I've always gone by the tires recommendation.......... not the truck because I've always ran aftermarket.

Now one theory in this situation is that you have a Ford Ranger....... that weighs like 3k and the tires are designed for a truck that weighs 6.5k sooooo.......... the amount of air it recommends would be too much for your light truck (it won't be forcing the tire down to full tread on pavement), but should you haul a lot b4 u do so I'd recommend airing back up.

okay i checked my tire pressure today and it was under. The rear was 25 on the right and 34 on the left.

What else could be the cause?

The shop I work at recomends 35. we put 35 in all tires without sensors. So 35 would be fine or anywhere in between just make sure the tires all have similar pressure in them.

There are basically only two things that can cause tires to wear in the center. Over pressure and tires too wide for the wheels. With 31" tires, I run 33 psi front and 30 psi rear with a 350 lb shell on the rear. If I take the shell off 28 - 29 psi in the rear is better.

Ford recommends 30 psi front and rear for a 31" tire. That is about right for the rear and is not enough for the front from my experience with 31" tires on a Ranger. That experience is over 300,000 miles.

The pressure rating on a tire is the maximum pressure recommended for that tire, not the recommended pressure.

The pressure of 34 psi is too much for an unloaded rear of a Ranger.

i cant believe this post has made it 2 pages...set your tires between 30 and 35. Id be willing to be that if you ran all your tires at 35 for a week then moved them down to 30 the next week you wouldnt even notice a difference.
I personally keep all my tires at 35. my 89 jimmy i had before this, 35, my 87 f150 with 33/12.50, 35....ive never had a single problem.
set your tires to the pressure that you like

The recommended pressure allows for carrying a load at least some of the time. The two Rangers I owned previously called for 30f and 35r but since I rarely carried anything I kept them at 35f and 30r and the tires wore perfectly. And if I knew I was going to pick up a load of topsoil or whatever, I'd stop at the gas station and pump the rears up to 35.
