I am currently driving a 2000 ranger 4x4 with a 4.0L and automatic transmission. I have a ford 8.8" open rear end with 3.73 gears. I am rolling on 265/75/R16 and I wanna upgrade to a 285 tire. I have read through the site numerous times and from what I have read is that I should be alright without having to change my rear axle. What I am wondering is has anyone else ran this set up? Will I still be able to perform respectably offroad and still maintain fair fuel milage? Also would a rear axle swap require a change in the front?

Yes a lot of people on here has, you need to crank up your t-bars up front to get a little more clearance, and it looks better too. Up top there is a nice search feature and it can help you out almost 90% of the time
