Hi All

The Tire shop I went to yesterday stated they can't and won't put 235/75/15 Goodyear Wrangler AT tires on my stock 90 Bronco II.
Their book says 235's are too big.

I have the same tire on my 88 Ranger and they work fine.

I'm not crazy... right :icon_twisted: ?

Shouldn't 235's fit a Bronco II?

Thanks for any opinions or thoughts.
Bill

I dunno about your tire store, But I know our Wal-Mart wont put ANY tire that didnt come factory sized in a vehicle anymore.
They look at the door jamb sticker to verify if the tire size was an option.

Yeah, they kept talking about liability issues going with the non specified EOM size.

But are there any real world issues with the bigger 235's.

The guy said if I bring the rims in Off the truck he could mount the 235's.
But he can't if they're on the truck.

I would say no, shouldn't be an issue to fit the 235s. You have a Ranger with them and they fit, I had an 87 Ranger that I put 235s on, no problem. There might be a tiny bit of rubbing on the fenders under suspension compression while turning but nothing serious.

The tire shop is crazy. I wouldn't buy from them if they weren't willing to do what I asked. It's not Walmart, is it?

You might have to trim the lower corners of the fenders, I did on my 84.

i put 30s on my bII had no problem just lost alot of power. and the tire store i work at they dont care about size diffrences lol they will put anything on

ive ran 235s on every b2/ ranger ive owned, all first and 2nd gens, and they all fit perfect, and if they ever rubbed it was on my 88 2wd.

for the tire shops around me, if the tire will physicaly fit in the wheel well they will put it on lol, no matter if its a 38" swamper, if it fits enough to get the lug nuts on, shes good to go lol

yea same around here, they dont care as long as you have some money to pay for the work

i've had 235's before and they r not big at all, they only measure up to around a 29" tall tire which will easily clear ur truck. i've got 33's on mine and i only have a body lift. only rubs on the one side when i have it fully turned. doesnt bother me any.

My local Les Schwab. won't put on a bigger tire because of liability reasons. The manger told me that because of the popularity of crappy home made lifts they don't want to assume the responsibility of putting on the tires. Then with my 31's and now with my 33's I had to put the car on jack stands have them mounted and balanced take them home to put them on.

I had 235/75/15's on my 86 mustang(dont ask) but they fit. never rubbed. And they will fit just fine on a b2 as well. THats bullshit, find a different tire shop. Otherwise comeon down here our tire ships will do it all day long lOl.

One time I went to a tire shop (a wholesale store), and they wouldn't put tires on my truck because the label said 225/70/14. I was trying to buy 215/70/14 tires. At the time my trucks tires were dry rotted and about ready to blow (had to rig the tire to hold air, even though there were cracks in the sidewall). That to me is crappy business practice. If they are so worried about the tire size, they could just simply have you sign something saying that it is okay to install a non-stock tire, as long as it fits on the rim.

Anyway, your best bet is to go to a local tire shop. Perhaps you could buy the tires at the place that wont install them, and have them installed somewhere that will.

goodyear, tire kingdom, mom and pop shops will always mount and balance both customer's tires as well as tires larger than stock. walmart mechanics are douche bags and apparently they're the same at whatever shop you went to.

If I'm remembering correctly, 235/75-15 was an optional tire size on RBV's anyway, so any shop should mount them up no problem...
