I'm talking about the type that screws on the valve stem basically replacing the valve caps, so do they work and if they do which brand or type do I want? I think it would be a very practical device if they do indeed work without running your tires flat.

Also if they do work, how do they look on your vehicle. Are they big, stick out too far, or generally dorky looking?

I think they're exceedingly silly, and the manufacturers are putting them on both per federal regulations and to reduce lawsuits.

auto makers are using a diff type of system that is internal and sets a light on the dash when a tire is low or over inflated he is talking about the ones that you put on the valve stem and from my experience they tend to leak

Yes the valve stem type I was hoping someone might have had some real life experiences with these.

Yea, the ones you are talking about do tend to leak. When customers have those on the stems, I remove them.

Theres two systems:
Passive: Uses ABS system and monitor tires by tire rotation differences
Active: Uses actual pressure sensor in place of the valve stem or placed inside stripped to the rim.

i wouldnt recommend them either, i work at discount tire and they do tend to leak. i prefer to just check my air regularly, i wouldnt trust those caps.

Okay that's what I wanted to know too bad they don't work.

ya I worked at a dealership for a while and the rentals had them on and now and then a customer would curb it and break the top of the cap off and lose all the air and ruin a perfect tire.
