I have a stock 92 Ranger, can i fit 31" on 17" rims without a lift, i don't know cause all the tire fitment questions are about stock rims, but if there is another post like this, sorry

Uhhh...if you buy tires that are made to fit on 17's, they will fit on 17's...:icon_confused:

some people have done it and been fine. others have done it and had some slight rubbing. if you wanna be safe get a 2'' leveling kit.

no i dont think it does. if worse comes to worse and it does rub slightly you might be able to pull back the inner fender and if that doesnt work just make yourself a cheap leveling kit out of washers.

rim diameter makes no difference. only tire diameter does. unless you are worried about brake clearance, but thats only with smaller rims. use the fitment guide for 31's.

what width tire and backspacing do you plan on running?

thanks guys, i needed the answers quick cause the tires were free, with ok tread, and there was another guy looking at them, i got them now i just need rims

um, don't believe them, seriously... I don't know why people answer questions when they have no clue... (don't mean to offend, but we don't need bad info spreading)

a 28" tire will fit stock height on a 4x2 second gen with minor rubbing (or no rubbing with proper back spacing), believe me... I've had that setup. I was running 235 70 15's if you go to the max size that will fit stock, get 3.73 or 4.10 gears, it's a nice setup.

31" tires will fit on a stock height 4x4 second gen with minor rubbing, had that setup also

yeah, they're pretty limited, I've heard of 235 75 15's fitting on a stock second gen 4x2 with stock wheels (I've seen it too, didn't rub but was TIGHT), with some small lift parts (spacers in front or leveling coils or something) you could probably fit 31's, 2" lift would get you the same height as a stock 4x4, explorer coils would get you there...

with 3.45's, first gear is going to take more clutch work than stock but should be doable with 28" tires or thereabouts, with 31's you are going to want at least 4.10's preferedly 4.56 gears.

just reread a couple posts and I misunderstood someone talking about needing gears when I thought they were talking about tire fitment... so oops...
