not to bad for 4 hours work

looks like it'll open either side. How are you securing the poles in place? Looks good, I'd just be worried about one of the poles to jump out.

thats sweet man!! you should do a project runthrough on your truck... looks sweet

that is very nice about what I want to do but I want it to have the hinges farther out so I can still carry my quad.

Looks familiar:icon_thumby:

My hinge works the opposite of yours it seems, and uses pins and springs.

Both are very nice. I would be interested in buying one if either of you are up for making another sometime in the future. :icon_thumby::icon_welder:

I already owned the bender and the welder so just materials..... 1 21 foot length of sched 40 pipe @ $56 bucks...the rest of the bits and pieces I had laying around.

If a guy had to buy everything probably around 100 bucks.

yeah thanks for the idea sasquatch_ryda, i love it. i just didnt spend the time an effort to do the fancy hinges like you made. as for building it, i had all the material lying around and i have all the equipment so it didnt cost me anything. gotta love that eh :icon_thumby:

how do you have it mounted on the box just bolted or welded right to it ?

i see a bed chop also, pics of the whole truck?

it looks good, nice work

This is my favorite of all the ones I have seen. You did a great job on this!!! I like it better then that over priced Tire Gate crap that is so over rated. I have a few friends that paid the big buck to get a Tire Gate and they say the thing is noisy and they don't like the way it hinges either.

Do you have a write up on this? Looking all over at hinge setups.

Heres mine, I still have full use of the bed and can open the tailgate. I don't have any pics of it with it swung open, but can take some if you want. I might have to redo my hinge soon tho cause it likes to sag when its open, it will swing all the way around till it would hit the body.
