Timing

When setting the timing I see a pointer and what looks like a peep sight. Which one do I use??

What is the peep sight thing for? Just curious

just a guess,sensor mount for another timing application on different motors.

Magnetic timing device. Lots of shops use it for checking timing on those era of vehicles. Going the way of the dodo since modern vehicle computers know the timing every moment they're operating.
